Boudoir Flashback

Now might be as good a time as any to mention that every year, I have a little adventure I go on.

This year it’s Burning Man.

For the last five years, it’s been Burning Man.

But in 2014, I took Boudoir photos with a professional photographer.

I bought a Groupon deal from Celebrate Your Sexy for $59.

I then proceeded to spend upwards of $1,000 on lingerie, makeup artistry, hairstyling, and more.

The reason I did it was because it scared me… the thought of posing semi naked in front of a stranger with a camera.

I thought to myself, “There’s no way I can do this.”

Then I told myself, “Yes, you can!”

And so I did it.

You can read more about my Boudoir Adventure here.

There’s even a lovely little clip of me freaking out in the hotel bar while I wait for my appointment to begin.

In the end, I was SUPER glad that I forced myself to persevere and overcome my fears because I LOVE my boudoir photos.

My favorite, incidentally, is this one…

OBEY!

Every year, about a month before Mother’s Day, I gather my two boys, force them to wear nice long sleeve, button-down shirts and trousers (gasp!) and we head to some beautiful location to take family photos.

Last year, Yvonne took our photos and she did an OUTSTANDING job of prepping us for the shoot AND actually taking AMAZING photographs.

So this year, we’re doing a repeat!

It works really well to take family photos around Mother’s Day BECAUSE you can GUILT TRIP your children into participating.

AND since they ALWAYS forget me on Mother’s Day, this is my present.

So to speak.

It’s also perfect because I get my photos ahead of time and then I’m prepared to get my Christmas cards made long before the crush of the holidays hits.

Last year, this was our holiday card.

We chose light, Easter, pastel colors for our photo shoot.

This year, we’re going with a more saturated color scheme – navy, burgundy, and a nice deep gray:

I’m totally excited once again to actually get family photos taken and I HOPE that enforcing this one family activity with my boys will reinforce that THIS IS JUST WHAT HAPPENS IN APRIL.

They MUST obey!

Family Photo Time

It’s time again for my annual family photo and I’m so happy that this year the lovely Yvonne will be taking our picture.

She’s already given me GREAT advice about what to wear, bring, etc.

The trick, as always, is getting my boys there.

The first time I did this to them they gave me a hard time about it.

The second time went smoother.

And this time, I think it’ll be even easier.

In true motherly fashion, I have GUILT TRIPPED my boys into taking the photo.

I reminded them: MOTHER’S DAY IS JUST AROUND THE CORNER. . .

Truth be told, I wish my boys were a little more helpful and participatory when it comes to helping out and doing things.

This past weekend, Yvonne held a party for her late husband and close to 60 people showed up to remember him fondly.

Yvonne is also mother to two boys and they showed up and helped out and were basically incredible.

It made me a little wistful thinking of my own boys.

Hopefully they will mature into men who are more helpful and supportive. Hopefully I’ve laid the right groundwork and it’s just a matter of time until I see them mature into the fine young men I know they can be.

But for now it’s all about video games, and cars, and animals, and avoiding me.

Sigh.

So here are the outfits my boys and I are wearing for our photoshoot – pastel green, blues, and purples for us. Should be BEAUTIFUL!

We’re going to Natural Bridges in Santa Cruz to take our photos.

Boudoir photos – copyrighted by ME

I finally got around to uploading my boudoir photos, without the CYS watermark on them.  You can see the photos, which have been edited a little bit.  If my skin looks overly creamy, that’s why.  Although I must admit, even in the unretouched photos, I looked pretty good.

I hope you like them and I hope they inspire you to take your own boudoir photos.  You can read more about this project here.

Boudoir photoshoot, part 2

THE SHOOT

It’s now about 4:00 pm and even though I don’t have my appointment until 7 pm, I leave early to get to the City. I have a nasty habit of getting lost in the city and I figure this gives me a comfortable buffer in case I get lost on my way to the hotel AND gives me plenty of time to imbibe some liquid courage – in my case a VERY LARGE GIN MARTINI with three olives.

YUM!

Sure, I was the girl sitting in a hotel bar in the City wearing a little black dress and with no underwear. Why, you ask?

Because I was worried about wearing anything that might leave a mark on my skin.

So NO BRA and NO UNDERWEAR for me.

I felt very naughty and wicked sitting alone in my booth.

I was nervous and I texted Marty and my friend Brian, both of whom did a great job in calming me down. Sort of. I did freak out a little bit. You can watch me freak out here.

I took a few selfies in the bar. Just a girl in a LBD in the City, going commando with a duffel bag full of lingerie. What’s not normal about that?!?!?

My photographer, a woman, finally called me to the suite and we poured over my lingerie for a good 15 minutes, deciding what outfit to wear, what shoes to pair with each outfit and what jewelry to match each outfit.

I was happy to finally have a “girlfriend’ to assist me in this venture. For the first time since I started this whole process, I felt a little lonely, wishing I had someone to be there for me for this event in my life. But no, going it alone this time. Buck up and move on.

For the better part of an hour and a half, my photographer posed me and snapped pictures of me.

A few of the things she said to me:

  • “Look at me and give me a little smirk.”
  • “Lift your chin and tilt your nose toward me.”
  • “How did you get such a nice butt? Do you do squats?”
  • “This is a perfect angle to show off your tattoos.”
  • “I have my clitoral hood pierced.” NSFW!!!

WHAT?! You can imagine the face I made when I heard my photographer say that.

Oh, ouch! No thank you. It took some serious mental cleansing to get that image out of my head, especially since she described getting it pierced.

Moving on….

I got pretty damn naked for my photos. I was really proud of myself for putting it all out there and getting photographed doing it. I should have pictures to view in a few days and something to post here within the week.

Hope you all enjoyed the process like I did, and if you’d like, drop me a line at michelle@unblunder.com.

Poses for my boudoir photoshoot

I’m no newbie to taking sexy photos.  I’ve been doing it since before we had cell phones and you had to take a photo with a standard 35 mm camera.  Here are some of my favorite (G-rated) photos.  There may be a nip slip in the bunch.  Sorry if you’re easily offended.

Those are some of my favorite pics I can post.  Now, here are some of the (G-rated) poses I plan to do at my photoshoot.  You can see all my inspiration online at my Pinterest Board – Boudoir photo shoot.

Fun, no?  I’ve decided to go with a “Dressing Down” theme – a women just coming home from a glamorous night on the town and getting undressed for her lover.  It’s a minimalist approach to a boudoir photoshoot since the idea behind it is removing clothing – exposing the lingerie underneath – and then getting completely naked for a night in bed.

What do you think?  Think I can pull it off with this curvy, bodacious body?!

Yeah…. me too!
